\nI am thankful to @coachtony@me.dm & team for bravely dipping a toe into the Fediverse with a paid server. The same week @medium@me.dm announced this server the first rumors of Threads dropped. Amazing how much can happen in under a year!
\nIt’s not popular, but finding reasonable and fair ways to monetize (or subsidize) the Fediverse is hard and necessary. Users and operators need a common and shared interest to not repeat the mistakes of old media.

I honestly believe Medium‘s best days are still ahead. High-quality content has to be protected against LLM theft. So far the only proven way to do that is with a paywall. There’s a lot of great newsletters out there, but for more sporadic and occasional authors Medium has an pretty amazing setup.
